She has extensive experience in assessment and treatment of children under the age of six with complex developmental, medical and psycho-social histories. Dr. Sayma Malik is a clinical psychologist with specialized training in the field of infant and early childhood mental health. She has extensive experience in assessment and treatment of children under the age of six with complex developmental, medical and psycho-social histories. Attachment and trauma theories form the basis of her clinical work while also drawing from cognitive behaviour therapy, family systems, emotion-focused and mindfulness-based approaches. Dr. Malik also has experience working with school aged children, adolescents, adults and families with a variety of challenges including anxiety, depression, school refusal, feeding difficulties, toileting challenges, complex trauma, autism spectrum disorders, emotion regulation difficulties, sensory processing difficulties, health related challenges, challenges related to adoption and foster care.
Sayma also provides parenting support, and developmental guidance. She is trained to provide assessment, individual and group treatment in the Circle of Security intervention.
